Potato Balls – Paneer Stuffed

One of the quickest and easiest snacks that can be prepared in under 20 mins. This recipe is made by stuffing paneer into potatoes and shaping them into balls. This can be served along with sauces or ketchup.

Ingredients

Ingredients 1: 

  • Potatoes (Medium) - 3 –Boiled
  • Salt – per taste
  • Oil for frying


Ingredients 2 – Panner stuffing: 

  • Paneer (crumbled) - 1/4 Cup
  • Salt – per taste
  • Garam Masala – 1/2 Tsp
  • Chilli Powder- 1/2 Tsp
  • Pepper Powder – 1/2 Tsp 


Ingredients 3 – coating:

  • Corn flour – 2 Tbsp
  • Salt – per taste
  • Water - 3-4 Tbsp
  • Bread crumbs


Directions

Preparing potato mixture:

  • To a bowl add boiled potatoes and mash well.
  • Once mashed, add salt and mix it again. Then keep it aside.


Panner stuffing Preparation:

  • In to a small bowl start adding crumbled paneer, salt, and spices mentioned under Ingredients 2 – Panner stuffing.
  • Mix them well and keep them aside.


Preparing the coating mixture:

  • To a small bowl add cornflour and salt. Mix them together.
  • Add enough water to form a slurry mixture. Keep it aside.


Preparing potato balls:

  • Take a lemon-sized potato mixture and flatten the mixture.
  • Take a small portion of paneer stuffing and place it on the potato mixture. Cover and shape it into balls.
  • Coat the balls with a slurry mixture and bread crumbs.


Frying potato balls:

  • To a Kadai, add sufficient oil for frying potato balls. To check whether the oil is ready, drop a pinch of potato mixture into the oil, when it is fried and floats on the top, the oil is ready to use.
  • When the oil is hot start placing the prepared balls in the oil. Fry on low flame. 
  • When one side turns into golden brown, gently flip to the other side, fry until the other side also turns golden brown.
  • Remove and place it on a plate lined with tissue paper.
  • Yummy potato balls – paneer stuffed is ready! Serve with sauce or ketchup.


Points to be noted

  • Alternatively, you can also use powdered poha/powdered biscuits for coating instead of bread crumbs.
  • Fry potato balls in batches. Do not overcrowd the potato balls in the Kadai.
